Hi. Hi! Thanks for signing up for my substack. I appreciate the fact that you might want to hear me talk. I say might because truly who knows. You signed up for this newsletter maybe because you’re my friend, maybe because you’re curious, maybe because you’re a family member who eats up most of the dumb things I do without much hesitation (thanks for that Mom and Dad). But you’re busy! I get it, I’m busy too! You might have time for me now but you might not in a few weeks. I’d understand. All you did today was sign up and hope for the best. Maybe you’ll hate it! You might love it, of course, and wouldn’t that be a dream for all of us, but there’s a definite possibility that you’ve gotten this far and already realized, “this bitch is rambly as hell! I’m out.” I’d respect that too. I’d have a few little cries about it, but I’d eventually work with my therapist to come to an understanding that it’s not that you didn’t like me it’s maybe that you just didn’t like the way I said that one thing. And then I’d move on.
But maybe you’ll stay. And if you choose to stay, here’s what you can expect: weekly newsletters (probably gonna keep them short because again: you’re busy, I’m busy, we’ve both got other substacks to read, etc.) sharing a story about something (funny) that happened to me that week.
Why am I doing this? Great question! Are you a mind reader? Or the judgmental part of myself that tells me this project is so self-indulgent and therefore I need to justify it to make it acceptable (if so, I thought I left you at home)?? Honestly, I’d just like to write funny stuff — that I hope people will enjoy — consistently and this holds me to that. And it might bring me joy, it might bring you joy. It might do a lot of things. It might cure cancer?!?! (It won’t cure cancer).
It might be fun and that could be enough, can’t it? I guess we’ll find out!
Stay tuned for a silly story coming Thursday! Thanks again for being here, I really damn do appreciate it!
