Happy July 18th! That’s gotta be someone’s birthday, right? Someone out there has GOT to have been born on the 18th day of the 7th month of the year. Right??? That would be CRAZY if no one was. Does no one have this birthday? Why won’t anyone just tell me!!
I am back in your feeds with a tasty little newsletter about my epic experience in Denver, Colorado. Readers, I camped. I know many of you had your doubts (me mostly, I was afraid of getting eaten by bear), but nevertheless? She persisted. And I gotta be honest y’all, it changed everything! Now I’m a person who casually uses y’all mid-sentence!
No for real, it was wonderful and changed me so much I’m now a tree. I have leaves for hands and roots for feet and my whole torso is wood. Can’t wait to show off this new bod to my coworkers who I only recently met in person. I think they’ll say “umm, promotion time!”
The woods were special mostly because I learned that I was the only person appreciating nature correctly. That’s right, all of you “outdoors kids” who think you’re so good at wilderness have got it all wrong. How do I know? Well, in between TikTok scroll sessions, I went on a walk, and on that walk, a chipmunk fully stood on his hind legs and told me that I was connecting with the natural world more authentically than anyone else. Yeah. I guess he could hear me all the times I shouted “I REALLY NEEDED THIS.”
And I did! Now I’m a version of myself that is calmer, more fulfilled, and ultimately better than everyone because I slept outside for one night. Have you guys ever experienced sleeping under the stars? There’s nothing like it. People just haven’t LIVED unless they’ve put a rock under their head and stared directly at the night sky for 8 hours, fearing that if they fell asleep, a bear would eat them. It’s magic!!!
So anyway, I probably should get off the internet now and live the life I learned to live outside. I’m probably gonna go sleep on my fire escape tonight, since being outdoors just feels like home. I don’t expect you guys to understand <3
